In the early days of Han settlement, life was harsh and the route to Taitung was dangerous. Many officials, troops and civilians died along the way. Moreover, many of the earliest pioneers died while exploring the route between the west coast and Taitung. Thus, this hall is dedicated to worshiping and honoring those ancestors who died during their journey .
Two deities guard this hall. The one on the left is “General Wen”, in memory of the first local officer of the Qing Dynasty “Yuan Wen Tuo”. The deity on the right is “General Wu”, in memory of Lieutenant General Zhang Zhaolian of the Zhenghai Rear Camp Army in Taitung.
